What is Punitive action and Primitive action? What is the difference?
Primitive or preventive
Punitive Detention means detention of a person after trail and conviction in a court.
Preventive Detention means detention without trail and conviction in a court. It is only precautionary measure and and based on suspicion.
Punitive actions are those taken after an irregularity happens.
Prevention actions are those actions, which prevents the irregularities happening.
Can you please explain simply with examples?
Suppose, some officer took bribe. Concerned Department will take action against him. Such actions are punitive actions (punishment for the misconduct).
If some officer takes some steps to prevent corruption, such as arranging CCTV cameras, ensuring timely disposal of files, etc., which will help in tackling corruption, such actions are preventive actions.
